As is the custom this was separated into that related to
the Presentation Evening and that |

4. The minutes of the meeting held on the 5th Dec 1995
were presented and a brief summary |
related to general running costs incurred by the club
officers. |
presented by the secretary. Bedhampton and Denmead were
asked to give their ruling on the |
The Presentation Evening due to its enormous success and
response from club bowlers had |
wearing of trousers by the ladies. |
produced a profit of £149.98p. |
As a result the situation regarding the ladies wearing
trousers is as follows: |
General operating costs were again quite low but were now
increased due to postage costs |
Greens where trousers which must be grey and tailored may
be worn are: Cowplain, Hayling |
now being incurred. This expenditure was £10.76p. |
Island, IBM, Leigh Park, *Purbrook and Waterlooville. |
The total cash in hand was £147.16p. |
Clubs not allowing trousers to be worn by ladies on their
green are: Bedhampton, Denmead and |
The statements were accepted. Proposed by M. Underhay and
seconded by M. Kellar. |
Southbourne. |
As last year a
short discussion took place on the amount of cash needed to run the
presentation |
*Purbrook changed their ruling post meeting. |
evening which is our only major operating expense. Tony
Odell was happy with the current |
float as this was sufficient to meet the upfront
expenditure required. The secretary
stated |
5. The statement
of accounts were presented. |
that there was no anticipated large expenditures other
than postage and stationary costs. |
As is the custom this was separated into that related to
the Presentation Evening and that |
These can be contained within the current amounts. |
related to general running costs incurred by the club
officers. |
With the cash in hand it was therefore not necessary to
consider a levy on the clubs |
The Presentation Evening was a disappointment due to a
fall in the attendance partially |
participating in the league. |
caused by travel problems of some players returning from
a holiday in Spain. |
However a small profit was made and with the overall
running costs being low we have enough |
5. No correspondence has been received. |
to run the 1996 presentation evening. |
The total cash in hand was £143.10 @ 09/01/96. |
6. M. Underhay was elected to the position of chairman. |
The statements were accepted. Proposed by M. Underhay and
seconded by M. Kellar. |
Proposed by A. Odell and seconded by M. Tregaskis. |

M. Tregaskis was elected to the positiion of secretary. |

wearing of trousers by the ladies |

and taken into consideration at the meeting mentioned

A vote of thanks was then given to M. Tregaskis for his
contribution to the running of the league. |

again agreed to the position of chairman. |

presentation evening was then discussed and it was agreed by all that it had

M. Tregaskis again agreed to the position of secretary. |

been a very enjoyable evening. Holding the event at the
Southbourne Social Club provided the |

ideal environment for the function. Tony Odell, his wife
and fellow bowls team members were |

presentation evening was then discussed and it was agreed by all who had
attended |

thanked for their efforts in organising the evening. |

that it had again been a very enjoyable evening. However,
the attendance was down this year on |

It was agreed that tickets could be dispensed with for
the 1995 evening and clubs were |

It was felt that it would be beneficial to the event to
invite some person of authority within |

The presentation evening is the only social occasion
which the league runs and it would be |

* The secretary apologised by phone after the meeting and
said due to a mixup had overlooked |

the meeting. |
** No representatives were available due to holiday
arrangements but had forwarded a lettter |

regarding their opinion on the item under discussion (J.
Harris). |
The meeting commenced at 6.30pm |
1. Attendance was noted. |
2. The motion for dicussion was put to the meeting: |
"That the ladies shall be allowed to wear trousers
during the cold weather for Reflex matches |
where the host club does not object." |
As would be expected a lot of differing views and
opinions were soon expressed and much |
debate took place. |
Summarising is difficult but the following main points
emerged: |
Trousers are worn by increasing number of players for
roll-ups/casual games. |
A generation divide, i.e. Young/older players is noted
within clubs. The young favouring a relaxed |
dress code whereas the older players favour strict dress
code defined by the various governing |
bodies. |
A lot of ladies now feel that the dress rules are
becoming too detailed and restrictive but go |
along with them. |
Also the wearing of sandals was discussed and the issue
here is that if a player whilst wearing |
sandals injures herself in a `foot related` way then no
insurance cover is provided under the |
clubs policy. Most clubs inform their members of this
rule and allow players to wear sandals |
at their own risk. |
Only GREY TAILORED TROUSERS to be allowed. |
The CONCLUSION of the meeting was that wearing of grey
tailored trousers and sandals was |
allowed if the host club permitted. i.e. the motion was
carried. |
